Hyderabad: Petrol price in the city touched Rs 100.10 per litre on Monday. The price of petrol rose for the eighth time in the last 14 days. The hiked prices, which have been on a constant ascent recently, have added to the overflowing cup of woes of the common man, who is still reeling under the financial crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Here is what people had to say:
Ridiculous!
The consistent rise in price of petrol has made me extremely sure that I do not want to buy a vehicle. There was a point when a vehicle felt like an economically smart move. But in today’s times, surely owning a vehicle is a luxury! I’d rather use cabs because they come at much cheaper and you even get discount coupons. The monthly payment of loans, and then the maintenance is already a huge chunk to pay. Add to that these ridiculous fuel costs.

Extra burden
This is a very critical issue for drivers. For over a year, we haven’t had enough earnings to keep our homes running. Now the petrol price hike is putting an extra burden on us. Add to the taxes, operating costs, EMIs etc. Whatever we earn is going away in these things. At present, app-based drivers and delivery workers are not earning anything significant.

Disturbed monthly budget
Due to the Covid situation, it is already difficult for a common man to survive with salary deductions. The added burden of petrol prices is horrible. The government should think about it and take serious action. I being a Doctor cannot work from home and need to go for work daily. I am sure many other people cannot work from home. For them, these prices have disturbed the monthly budget.

Breaking the backbone
Many people have lost their jobs, there are added expenses towards precautions such as sanitisers and oxymeters, and now these added prices are breaking the backbone of middle-class families. I think many people will now be opting for public transportation. However, those whose work requires them to use their vehicle will find it to be a very costly affair. The prices of essential commodities will also increase now.

More burden
The rise in fuel prices will impact all of us. Also, the prices of several other commodities such as vegetables, domestic gas supply, dairy products will also increase. In the current pandemic situation, when many have lost their jobs and several others are surviving on part of their salary rise in the petrol prices is only adding to the middle-class burden.

Centre to be blamed
It’s not just a petrol hike but also hike of all other daily essentials. If petrol price increases, automatically rates of each and every essentials get increase. It’s always the loss of the common public when prices of essential commodities rise. The Central government has failed in controlling Covid and apart from that people are made to suffer due to increasing fuel prices.
