Nizamabad: A 52-year-old plumber was arrested by the Nizamabad district police on Wednesday on charges of killing his son for regularly harassing his family members in an inebriated condition.
Konda Ravi, a resident of Hamalwadi in Nizamabad, murdered his son Upendra (21) by smashing his head with an iron road repeatedly, said Nizamabad Police Commissioner KR Nagaraju , addressing a press conference.
Ravi killed Upendra when the latter returned home in an inebriated state and fell asleep on Monday night. The Police Commissioner said Upendra quarrelled with his mother on Monday afternoon demanding money to consume liquor.
When she refused, Upendra forcibly took Rs 100 from her and beat Ravi before returning home around 10.30 pm. The family members earlier counselled Upendra to stop consuming liquor but he did not relent.
Moreover, Upendra went to jail in the past for his alleged involvement in theft cases. Unable to bear the harassment by him, Ravi attacked Upendra with an iron rod when he was asleep. On Tuesday morning, he brought Upendra to the government hospital for treatment.
But when the doctors declared him dead, Ravi left the hospital without furnishing any details. After a probe, the police detained Ravi, who admitted to the crime.
