Adilabad: Mild tension prevailed for a while when police and activists of BRS jostled with each other during a sit-in staged by the BRS party, demanding the government extend its promised Rythu Bharosa investment support of Rs 15,000 per acre to farmers, on NH-44 at Boraj village on Saturday.

Led by former Minister Jogu Ramanna, BRS workers blocked the traffic on the national highway for a while in protest of the delay in providing the investment support by the government. Police rushed to the spot and tried to shift the agitators to a local police station.

The activists picked up an argument with the police for preventing them from staging the protest. They found fault with the police for attempting to arrest and shift them to the police station. Ramanna said that they would not fear arrests and cases. He stated farmers were facing a crisis due to losses in farming. He demanded that the government release the investment support to the farmers at the earliest. He charged that Congress won the mandate of the public by making false promises. He flayed the government for using police to suppress protests.

BRS leaders Ijjagiri Narayana, Govardhan, Lingareddy, Ganesh, Chandala Rajanna, Ganganna, Premala, Swarupa Rani, Bojanna, Ganganna and others were present.
