Mahabubnagar: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said poor fund allocation for completion of irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar, besides illiteracy, was the main reasons for backwardness in the region.
In the past, whenever former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair or Microsoft chief Bill Gates or political tourists visited the State, the then Chief Ministers used to take them to Palamuru. This was done to showcase the region’s poverty and backwardness and seek grants for development, he said at a public meeting here on Saturday, indirectly hinting at the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Later, former MP D Vittal Rao had appealed to former Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy regarding the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project. Similarly, former Minister DK Aruna had also raised the issue with former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said, alleging that the previous BRS government had neglected the PLRI project.
He also claimed he did not have any reservations in joining BJP MP DK Aruna to approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi and get an IIM sanctioned for Palamuru.
