Protest at Telangana Assembly as Banjara community seek installation of Sant Sevalal statue

Hyderabad: The police detained several persons outside the Telangana Legislative Assembly when they tried to enter the premises as part of a protest by members of the Banjara community demanding the officials expedite installation of a grand statue of Sant Sevalal Maharaj in Hyderabad.

The protesters urged the Telangana government to officially install a prominent statue of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, the revered spiritual guru and social reformer of the Banjara community. They demanded that the government identify a suitable location and expedite the installation process.

The protesters said Sant Sevalal Maharaj had played an important role in guiding and reforming the Banjara community and that a grand statue in the State capital would serve as a symbol of its cultural and spiritual heritage.

Police detained several protesters when they attempted to enter the Assembly premises and took them away from the spot. The protesters raised slogans in support of their demand and appealed to the government to give an official commitment and take time-bound steps towards installing the statue.
