Public seeks change in government: Jeevan Reddy
Senior politician T Jeevan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, criticising his governance and accusing the Congress of failing to deliver on promises. Reddy hinted at a political realignment, with speculation rife that he may join the BRS at a public meeting in Jagtial on April 13.
Jagtial: Senior politician T Jeevan Reddy, who is continuing his tirade against the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddysince his resignation to the congress party, made sensational remarks on Friday. A situation has arisen in the state where people want change. People were of the opinion that “a change must come and CM Revanth Reddy must go”. Unfortunately, this situation has developed within a span of two years, he opined.
In the past the public had voted for the Congress party driven by the very same slogan that BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao must step down to pave the way for change. People came to this opinion as the Congress government failed to fulfill its poll promises. Moreover, people are now dissatisfied with Revanth Reddy’s governance, Jeevan Reddy said at a press conference here on Friday.
On the Kaleshwaram project, he termed the criticism surrounding the project as political in nature, he found fault with the state government for not taking measures towards the restoration of the project.
Taking exception to the comments made by the union Minister CR Patil regarding the Kaleshwaram project, he pointed out that the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages constitute only a minor component of the entire project.
Though it requires only Rs 500 crore to restore these three barrages, the government has not taken steps in this regard so far. The recommendations of the National Dam Safety Authority have also not been implemented. The government has completely failed in its efforts to utilize the waters of the Pranahita River.
Moreover, it has not even managed to formulate a proper design for the purpose. The allocation of a mere Rs 152 crore in the budget stands as clear evidence of the government’s negligence.
Despite the availability of 100 TMCs of water through the Kadem and SRSP projects, the government was not focusing on the utilisation of these resources. Stating that the Kaleshwaram project serves as the lifeline of Telangana, he said that it fulfills the drinking and industrial needs of Hyderabad. The rejuvenation of the Musi River was entirely dependent upon it.
If the restoration of the Medigadda barrage was not undertaken, nearly 1.8 million acres of agricultural land as well as Hyderabad’s essential needs would be severely impacted. He further cautioned that if climatic conditions prove unfavourable, Telangana faces the risk of turning into a desert.
When asked about his political future, Jeevan Reddy said that he would reveal which party he intends to join within the next two weeks. He would take a decision by following the opinions of his admirers and followers. He expressed his gratitude to the leaders of both the BJP and the BRS for the affection they have shown him.
According to the buzz on social media platforms, Jeevan Reddy is likely to join the BRS on April 13 in a massive public meeting in Jagtial.
