Hyderabad: A pre-mega Lok Adalat was conducted in the Ranga Reddy district court and function halls jointly by the Rachakonda Police and the District Legal Services Authority here on Saturday.

In view of the of the National Mega Lok Adalat to be held on March 12, a total of 16 sitting benches have been set up in the Ranga Reddy district court and three other places in Rachakonda limits to address e-petty cases and cases booked under the Disaster Management and others during the lockdown.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, said during the last two years, cases have been registered under various sections under the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act against those who violated the lockdown rules and mask-on policy. Thousands of these cases were registered and fine of Rs 1,000 was imposed on the violators.

As the fine amount was high, many people did not pay the fine and cases against them were pending. The Commissioner pointed out that such persons can settle the cases by paying Rs 100 in the Lok Adalat by making use of the opportunity until March 12. Any pending cases against civilians may lead to denying passport or government jobs and other benefits.
