Retired teacher loses Rs. 26 lakh in digital arrest scam; accused held from Andhra
A 22-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was arrested by Khammam Cybercrime Police for allegedly duping a retired teacher of Rs. 26 lakh by impersonating a Bengaluru police officer. The fraudster claimed the victim was linked to human trafficking and money laundering.

Khammam: The Cybercrime Police have arrested a fraudster from Lakkireddipalli village in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly duping a retired teacher from Khammam of Rs. 26 lakh.
Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said the accused posed as a Bengaluru police officer and threatened the victim over the phone, claiming he was involved in a human trafficking and money laundering case. The fraudster warned that the teacher would be “digitally arrested” if he did not cooperate.
The incident took place in April this year, during which the victim was coerced into transferring the money in multiple installments. The 22-year-old accused, Dama Vijay Kumar, had managed to transfer Rs. 20 lakh to his account before being apprehended.
He was produced before the Cybercrime Court and remanded to judicial custody, the Commissioner said.
