Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of conspiring to kill him, stating that the recent murder attempt on him was instigated by the latter. He demanded that the police register a case against the Chief Minister who must clarify on the provocative remarks made by him publicly in this regard.
“It is shameful for a Chief Minister to claim that his party members attacked an opposition MLA. Revanth Reddy will be responsible if anything happens to me,” he said at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday. He said the Chief Minister ensured that Serlingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his supporters were escorted with police protection to his residence recently to carry out the attack on him.
The BRS MLA stated he had received death threats over phone and that he had already informed the Additional Director General of Intelligence in this regard. He urged Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other Congress leaders to respond to the Chief Minister’s statements and use of abusive language.
Kaushik Reddy also criticised the lack of response from the Cyberabad Police Commissioner regarding the attack on him, and questioned why no action was taken against the local ACP and the Circle Inspector concerned. He sought to know why Revanth Reddy developed a grudge against him, despite him helping the latter become the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president in the past.
He said the Chief Minister had previously deceived him, forcing him to quit the Congress party. “I will continue to fight under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s leadership until Revanth Reddy is removed from office,” he said.
MLAs KP Vivekananda Goud and Dr Kalvakuntla Sanjay also voiced their disapproval of the deteriorating law and order under the Congress government. They said BRS leaders would soon meet the DGP, the Home Secretary and the Governor, seeking their intervention on the issue. If there was no favourable response, the BRS would consider taking up the issue with the President as well, they said.
