Warangal/Mulugu: Officials have submitted proposals worth Rs 120 crore for the improvement of facilities at Medaram jatara to be held next year. The proposed works include laying roads, removal of three check dams, building additional blocks and new dining halls besides constructing permanent accommodation for policemen on duty during the jatara.
Responding to the officials at a review meeting, the Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said that the government was committed to improving the facilities at Medaram, Gunjedu Musallamma jatara and facilities at Pagididda Raju temple for devotees during the biennial Medaram – Maha jatara. She said all efforts must be made to hold the jatara smoothly and grandly.
Addressing a preparatory meeting on the Jatara at Medaram in Mulugu district here on Saturday, Satyvathi said that District Collector had already submitted proposals for the works worth Rs 120 crore to the State government. “Roads are sinking due to the nature of the soil. Keeping this in view, we will repair the roads and find a permanent solution,” the Minister added.
Referring to the appeals for the development of all the shrines and Jataras associated with Medaram Jatara, she said that they would also provide facilities for the Musalamma Jatara, and also improve amenities at Pagididda Raju temple at Punugondla village. We will also give the required funds for the mini-jatara,” she said, reminding that they had made some permanent constructions from Rs 75 crore sanctioned during the last Maha-Jatara.
Talking about the tribal university issue, she said that it would be resolved soon and added that Rs 55 crore were sanctioned to a government degree college near Gattamma near Mulugu town. Later, the Minister has laid the foundation for the construction of a community dining hall and other development works at the shrine at Medaram. MLA Seethakka, ZP vice-chairman Bade Nagajyoti and district officials attended the meeting.
