Khammam: Rakhi Pournami was celebrated in an innovative way at Wyra in the district on Sunday opposing the Centre’s three contentious Farm Laws, which the Supreme Court has already put on hold in January.
The women members of the Telangana Rythu Sangham made Rakhis with farm produce. At a programme organised under the aegis of Telangana Rythu Sangham and Wyra Study Circle on Sunday they tied those Rakhis to the Sangham members as a mark of protest against the Farm Laws.
The Sangham district committee member Bonthu Samatha speaking on the occasion appealed to the people to support the farmers, who were against the controversial Farm Laws as they harm the interests of the farming community across the country.
The Sangham district president Bonthu Rambabu demanded the Central government to repeal the Farm Laws saying that the pro-corporate policy of the BJP government would pose a serious food security problem in the country in the future.
Farmers across the country have been protesting for the past several months seeking to repeal the anti-farmer Farm Laws but sadly the Central government was least bothered to respond, he noted.
The Centre’s proposal to suspend the implementation of the laws for a period of one and half years was not a solution to the issue, the laws have to be withdrawn fully, he said.
The Sangham leaders P Sambashiva Rao, Chintanippu Chalapathi Rao, Sankranti Narsaiah, Madineni Srinivas Rao, CITU leaders Sunkara Sudhakar, Thota Nageswa Rao, Study Circle in-charge Parupalli Chandrasekhar Babu and others took part in the programme.
