Nalgonda: The members of Telangana Rythu Sangham on Saturday took out a rally by holding traditional ploughs from the Subash statue to the Clock Tower centre in Nalgonda in solidarity with the farmers’ agitation at New Delhi against three new farm laws of the Centre which has completed 100 days.
About 100 members of the Sangham wore farmers’ traditional clothes and took ploughs on their shoulders participated in the rally.
Speaking after the rally at Clock Tower centre, Telangana Rythu Sangham State vice president Julakanti Ranga Reddy said that it was unfortunate that the Centre was insensitive to the agitation of the farmers who have been demanding for revoking the new farm laws, which were brought against the interests of farmers as well as common people.
He alleged that the Narendra Modi government mortgaged the sovereignty of the country with the corporate forces by privatising the public sector units and also bringing policies in their favour. There was no change in the attitude of Narendra Modi even though the farmers’ agitation was getting support from various parts of the world, he added.
Ranga Reddy asserted the farmers’ unions will continue their agitation across the country until the new farm laws are revealed. He said meetings will be conducted by the Rythu Sangham at the village level to consolidate support for the agitation of the farmers at New Delhi. He wanted the State government to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly to pass a resolution opposing the three new farm laws of the Centre. He also urged the State government to withdraw from the plan of removing paddy procurement centres.
CPI(M) district secretary Mudhireddy Sudhakar Reddy, Rythu Sangam leaders Paladugu Nagarjuna, Md Saleem, Ch Laxminarayana and others also participated in the rally.
