The Bhanumathi Ramakrishna star couldn’t thank enough for the way the pandemic has changed her perspective on life.
After winning hearts with her role as Bhanumathi, she has another interesting project in the pipeline.
“Goda, is a very different and engaging storyline and my character is in contrast with previous work ‘Bhanumati Ramakrishna’. Goda is a story-driven film, I am playing both the protagonist and also the antagonist in it. Audiences may get shocked to see me in a pleasant way. I am playing a Telangana girl in a performance oriented role. For ‘Bhanumati Ramakrishna’ I had put on weight to suit the character. So, in the upcoming movie ‘Goda’, I am toned down a bit. It is a crime thriller and the entire story runs in the backdrop of rural Telangana,” she says.
Goda is being bankrolled by UV Creations and directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. The unit members were affected by the Covid and the shooting was halted indefinitely.
“It’s difficult for actors and technicians to survive during these times. So much chaos outside. It’s a shocking time because everybody plans some goals, and suddenly they are taken away by Covid, young and old. I’m Thankful for being alive and existing more than anything else. I feel everything looks so small in this situation,” she says.
Humanity is going through a tough time. “Spreading joy, love and bringing smiles on the faces of people interacting with them, that is a bigger mission before us more than anything else. You never know if a person who you met might not be there the next day,” she adds.
Surprise to see packed audiences
Salony is eagerly wanting to get back on the film sets. “I was surprised to see theatres getting filled after the end of the first lockdown. I believed that people would not go to theatres given the uncertainty of Covid prevalence. But films have witnessed overwhelming success after cinemas were opened. People are willing to watch on big screens. OTTs are definitely a better platform when you look at it safety wise. Theatre is an experience, if I talk about the director’s point of view, even the impact that film can have in theatre can’t be replicated at home, because you’re going to pause it, your phone will ring. If there’s an ad, you may pause it again for lunch, you never be with the characters. So theatres can give a much better experience,” said Salony.
