Hyderabad: Once again, there was nothing new for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in his latest Delhi trip. He was cold-shouldered by Rahul Gandhi again even as TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud got to meet the same Rahul Gandhi who was “busy” for the Chief Minister for two consecutive days. And as usual, Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet expansion plans and getting his people into nominated posts have to wait.
The Chief Minister along with the TPCC president had met AICC general secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday and discussed a few party issues. After the meeting, the duo was asked to stay put in New Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi. The entire day on Monday, Revanth Reddy waited for a call from the AICC Head Office. No such call came. Disappointed, dejected, he boarded the flight back to Hyderabad in the evening.
Interestingly, the same day, the TPCC president managed to meet Rahul Gandhi, that too along with his family. And Mahesh Kumar Goud did not let it go unnoticed. He posted the same on X. Call it rubbing salt deep into the wound.
“Had the privilege of meeting Rahul Gandhiji in Delhi along with my family members. We had a meaningful discussion on current political developments and successful implementation of schemes in Telangana,” he said on X.
Now, why is this nothing new for Revanth Reddy? Check his Delhi visit reports over the last one year. For instance, in February early this year, he had gone to Delhi along with a couple of Ministers but could not meet Rahul Gandhi. Interestingly, the Leader of Opposition and AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with Jharkhand MLAs at Indira Bhavan but they did not give an audience to Revanth Reddy.
Though the Chief Minister tried to downplay the incident claiming he enjoyed a good relationship with Rahul Gandhi and that he did not have to prove it to others, it had triggered enough speculations in Gandhi Bhavan over the Congress high command cold-shouldering the Telangana Chief Minister. With the Chief Minister once again failing to meet Rahul Gandhi on Monday, things just got a little more evident.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said that the AICC leadership has asked the Chief Minister and Congress leaders from Telangana to again be in New Delhi on May 30 to discuss “party issues”.
