Sangareddy: Four college students including two girls suffered electric shock when the TSRTC bus in which they were travelling in came in contact with overhead power lines at Munipally mandal headquarters on Wednesday. The condition of one of them, Geetha (19), is critical.

Since colleges have started functioning, several girls and boys from nearby villages studying Intermediate and Degree in Sadasivpet town boarded the bus. Since the Sangareddy depot bus was a shuttle service between Munipally and Sadasivapet, several students had taken the bus. While the vehicle was taking a turn at Adarsh Model High School, the bus came in contact with overhead power lines.

Though there were over 80 students and other passengers in the bus, locals said the villagers switched off power at the transformer, averting what could have been a major tragedy. Meanwhile, the bus driver jumped out and escaped from the scene. The villagers alleged that the driver has trying to take a turn at a wrong place.

The victims were rushed to Government Hospital, Sangareddy. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and District Collector M Hanumantha Rao visited the hospital to inquire about the injured students and instructed the hospital staff to provide the best treatment to them. Budera police registered a case and investigation is on.
