Medak: Political differences that surfaced during the recently held sarpanch elections continued to haunt the people as a Congress sarpanch forced the panchayat secretary to demolish the boundary wall of his political rival at Nagulapally in Toopran mandal.

According to victims, Congress leader Srisailam Yadav had contested as a rebel against his own party leader Srinivas Reddy in last sarpanch elections. Yadav lost the election to Reddy with a margin of 16 votes. Since then, the winner developed a grudge against Yadav.

Srinivas Reddy’s nephew Kaveri Venkat Reddy is reportedly a close associate of Anumula Kondal Reddy, brother of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Using his political power and citing various reasons, the sarpanch reportedly forced the panchayath secretary to demolish the boundary wall of Srisailam Yadav amid police security on Thursday, which sparked a tension in the village.

Yadav and his family members raised the voice against the autocratic act of sarpanch and panchayat secretary.. They further said that they will take the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister. Speaking on the occasion, Yadav accused the sarpanch of harassing him and the voters who supported him in elections. He said that the sarpanch attempted to stop the supply of drinking water.
