The competition was conducted from April 30 to May 5 with participation from teams representing various countries such as India, China, Colombia, Zambia, Canada, Australia, and Poland. From India, teams from Coal India Limited, SCCL, and other companies participated.

The underground rescue competition assessed teams on firefighting (20 marks), rescue operations (20 marks), and technical support (10 marks). The Singareni team excelled in all these areas and secured the top position.

As part of the events, a 90-minute technical test was conducted at the Mopani Central Training Centre in Mufulira. Representing Singareni, CH Sai Krishna successfully completed the task in just 52 minutes by rectifying and refilling a carbon dioxide absorbent canister.

After that, in another event held at the West Portal Mine, the team was tasked with locating and rescuing two individuals trapped in an underground mine at a depth of 700 meters. Although two hours were allotted, the Singareni team completed the task in just 52 minutes.

The team carried out key operations such as installing an L-bend in a pump, shutting down a substation, locating the victims using the given mine plan, reviving one unconscious person found near an LHD machine, and safely transporting another injured individual to the mine surface over a distance of more than 700 meters following full rescue procedures. The entire process was monitored by a panel of two judges.

The Singareni rescue team displayed remarkable alertness, discipline, and coordination, completing all tasks well within the stipulated time and earning appreciation from the judges. Congratulating the team, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr Buddhaprakash Jyothi appreciated their outstanding achievement and stated that winning first prize at the international level in underground mines rescue is a proud moment for the organisation.

He also congratulated the WCL rescue team of Coal India Limited for their performance. The team members included G Pramod Kumar, B Nithin Kumar, N Bhanu Prasad, A Shyam Kumar, R Srikanth, CH Sai Krishna, and translator G Rajender Reddy. The Singareni rescue team was trained under the leadership of General Manager (Rescue) Srinivas Reddy at the Ramagundam Mines Rescue Station.

Notably, Dr Rajeshwar from SCCL was invited by the international organisers to serve as a judge in the First Aid category. The achievement has been widely appreciated by Singareni employees and officials, who expressed their congratulations across various media platforms.
