Hyderabad: School Education director Dr. E Naveen Nicolas on Thursday directed the district educational officers (DEOs) to increase the enrollment in government schools during Prof. Jayashankar Badi Bata for the academic year 2026-27.

During a training programme, Dr. Nicolas instructed officials to effectively utilize Amma Adarsha Patashala Committee members for enrolment drive. Directing officials to ensure complete readiness of schools before reopening, he called for academic panel inspections in all schools for improvement of learning outcomes of the students and quality of education.

Dr. Nicolas asked officials to ensure that no school faces teachers’ shortage and teachers deployment issues be addressed. School infrastructure must be fully functional and maintained, he said.

Instructions were issued to lay special focus on improving learning outcomes, strengthening FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy), and prioritizing pre-primary education.

“Ensure timely distribution of student entitlements like uniforms, textbooks, and notebooks etc., and monitor proper preparation and serving of mid-day meals in all schools,” Dr. Nicolas told officials.
