Hyderabad’s weather has changed completely with the heavy rains that have been lashing the city frequently. However, not all downpours are irksome. There’s nothing more pleasant than a drizzle tickling you as it trickles down your face and the cool breeze adding to the chill you’re already experiencing. But that’s what monsoon is all about.
The cool weather also brought some respite, and happiness, to Hyderabadis after the lockdown. This is what inspired city-based photographer Madagoni Venkatesh Goud (Teja) who stays in LB Nagar to use the opportunity and go on a long drive to Rachakonda Forest, which is about 50 kilometres away from where he lives.
Mesmerised by the enchanting greenery, the enthusiastic photographer captured the lust green landscape of the forest with his camera. The view which he captured is just opposite the famous Sri Sri Sri Sarala Maisamma Thalli Temple, which is located in Rachakonda, in between two hills. Its serene and beautiful atmosphere is bound to make anyone go ‘wow’.

Teja captured the beautiful hillocks and a boy who brought his buffaloes for grazing in that area. The place is also called ‘trekker’s paradise’ as the area is home to the Rachakonda Fort, which is not a very well-known trekking spot around Hyderabad. It is secluded from the surrounding villages and that’s why it’s called the ‘Hidden Gem’.
The visitors from Hyderabad are advised to take the short-cut route via LB Nagar-Ibrahimpatnam-Tippaigudem village-Rachakonda Fort. On their way back, the travellers can reach Choutuppal via Kadilabai Tanda-Allapur where one can see the Sivalingam, 20 historical temples, and an old Darga. Once a Naxal-infested area, Rachakonda has come a long way now thanks to the government efforts to make the place accessible by carving out the hills and laying roads.
