The pandemic, though somewhat suppressed now, leaves us with an uphill task of having good mental health and emotional well-being.

Shlokka Pandit, who has been in and around her loved ones during the Covid pandemic, says that the pandemic has left us scratched mentally as we have seen it all. “My mother and I too have borne the brunt of not seeing my dad and my two siblings who live abroad for almost two years. We were both in Mumbai since I had started shooting for my film. Then the lockdown happened. All the borders were shut. We were engulfed by the fear that should anything happen to any of us, none of the other family members, who live in three different continents, could be there.”

So, the mother-daughter duo decided not to let fear take over them, but to fight it by being positive. “We prayed for everyone’s safety and protection, and compassionately helped all those around us who were either suffering or needed help to get by their daily needs. This, in turn, was the biggest blessing for us and it kept us motivated,” added the budding actor.

Shlokka calls for encouraging mental health talks and emotional well-being. She has the shoulder to lean on for anyone looking for someone to listen to. “The Covid pandemic has been here for long. It has left more scars than we can currently see. A lot of people have lost their loved ones, livelihood and jobs. In situations as these, mental health and self-love take a beating and we are seeing the cases. I want to encourage conversations around this,” adds the ‘Hello Charlie’ star, who urges people to break barriers and create more conversations and encourage involvement of people in a larger scale.

“We have to stand by example and just propagate it. It’s a huge challenge and we should be up for it. A huge salute to all the Covid warriors and the way they have protected us during these difficult times. Let’s all get vaccinated as soon as the opportunity arises.”
