Shortage of urea troubles Karimnagar farmers despite rains
Farmers in Karimnagar district continue to face a shortage of urea, standing in long queues, reserving spots with slippers and stones, and even sleeping overnight at fertiliser shops to secure limited supplies, as societies struggle to meet demand in Thimmapur and Saidapur mandals.
Karimnagar: The shortage of urea continues to trouble farmers in Karimnagar district. Despite rains, farmers are seen standing in serpentine queues outside fertiliser shops, leaving slippers in line to mark their place, and even sleeping at shops overnight to secure supplies.
At Nustulapur PACS in Thimmapur mandal, after learning that 470 bags of urea had arrived on Sunday evening, several farmers spent the night at the society, leaving slippers and stones to reserve their spot in the queue.
A similar situation was witnessed at Mannepalli in Thimmapur mandal, where more than 200 farmers queued up since morning, though only 170 bags of urea were available at the society.
In Vennampalli of Saidapur mandal too, farmers rushed to the society early in the morning on hearing that urea had arrived, forming long queues in anticipation.
