Peddapalli: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Balram stressed the need to enhance coal production to compensate for losses caused by heavy rains during the past three months.
The CMD said only 91 per cent of the production target and 93 per cent of the transport target were achieved in the first half of the current financial year due to incessant rains. To offset the shortfall, production targets for the next six months have been revised upwards. He pointed out that it was mandatory to produce and transport 2.25 lakh tonnes of coal and remove 14 lakh cubic metres of overburden (OB) every day to meet the year’s targets.
Balram, who conducted a special review with all Area General Managers through a video conference from the Singareni headquarters at Kothagudem on Wednesday, said several key decisions had been taken in the past two months to secure the company’s future. Singareni has forayed into critical mineral exploration and also secured government approval to participate in auctions for coal blocks and other minerals.
Highlighting the company’s expansion plans, Balram urged employees to clearly understand Singareni’s financial position and insisted that every employee must put in a full eight-hour shift and focus on improving work culture to strengthen the company’s survival.
