Peddapalli: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday said Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited (APHMEL), a subsidiary of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), should aim to grow into a company capable of competing on a global scale.
Vikramarka, accompanied by Singareni CMD Balram, visited the APHMEL plant at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada and interacted with workers. He said that, in terms of machinery and human resources, APHMEL was on par with the best engineering companies worldwide involved in manufacturing spare parts for new industries and repair and supply parts for existing machinery.
The Deputy CM announced that a consultancy would soon be appointed to study local conditions and submit a report on the company’s prospects, based on which the Telangana government would decide the way forward. He said improved performance by officials and staff would lead to higher profits, more employment opportunities for local youth, and progress for both states.
He exhorted the APHMEL not to limit itself to manufacturing and repairing machinery for Singareni alone, but to also seek orders from across the country, much like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
