Situation under control in Bhainsa, says SP

SP Vishnu S Warrier stated that 14 persons were arrested for allegedly involving in the conflicts and were sent to a judicial remand

Nirmal: In-charge Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier said that no untoward incidents reported in the communally sensitive Bhainsa town in the past 48 hours.

In a press statement, issued here on Tuesday, Warrier said that fool-proof security was made for preventing untoward incidents in Bhainsa town, which saw communal clashes on Sunday night, resulting injuries to eight persons including a Sub-Inspector, constable and two scribes.


He stated that 14 persons were arrested for allegedly involving in the conflicts and were sent to a judicial remand. The IPS officer further said that a total of 15 cases were booked for instigating clashes and six special teams were formed for nabbing the offenders.

Apart from special teams, 500 policemen drawn from neighboring districts were deployed for bringing the situation under control. He assured that the public need not to be panicked over the law and order of the town.

Two groups began pelting stones against each other in Julfiqar Galli, Kubheer Road, Ganesh Nagar, Medarigalli, Bus stand localities of the town at around 8.45 pm. Unidentified persons set commercial establishments and vehicles ablaze in the bus stand area and indulged in arson.

It is learned that the two-motorcycles collided with another and some locals raised objections to rash and negligence driving of the bikers, resulting in the conflict. The clashes spread to other parts of the town, triggering a tension. The warring groups were dispersed by policemen led by Bhainsa DSP Narsing Rao.
