Hyderabad: Stepping up facilities to reach out to victims of accidents, six new Trauma Care Centres (TCCs) have been added along the Outer Ring Road this year.
These emergency services made operational recently are in addition to the existing 10 TCCs which extends services free of cost to those in need. To reach out to the TCCs in case of accidents on the ORR, all one has to do is call the toll-free number-1066.
Taramatipet, Raviryal, Pedda Golconda, Kollur, Sultanpur and Medchal are the new interchanges where these life-saving facilities have come up. The existing 10 Advanced Life Support ambulances will be used to shift the accident victims to these centres. While the work pertaining to eight TCCs has been entrusted to Yashoda Healthcare Services Private Limited, the remaining eight are being taken care of by Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited.
Meanwhile, the TCCs launched in October 2020 have so far attended to 1,084 complaints, according to Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL).
“The TCCs and Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances are rendering exceptional services for any emergencies and accidents on the ORR. This is one of the best life-saving facilities across the country,” said HGCL Managing Director BM Santosh.
Each of the ALS Ambulance is assigned a jurisdiction of about 8-km stretch on ORR. The centres deliver a full spectrum of care to an injured patient from the time of injury through transport to an acute care facility, said HGCL in a statement. Ambulances, staffed with medical and paramedical personnel will attend to accident victims and give first aid, after which the person will either be shifted to a TCC or a hospital, based on his or her condition.
At each TCC, two beds are available with allied medical equipment, oxygen cylinders and emergency drugs. Disaster kits are also available in case of multi-casualty incidents. The TCCs are also equipped with a telemedicine facility to attend to the accident victims by a medical professional remotely. “The emergency physician/ specialist doctor can see the patient in TCC from a remote location and advise the paramedic staff saving lives during golden hour,” said HGCL in a press release.
