SLBC Tunnel: Restoration work on conveyor belt gathers speed

Nagarkurnool: The conveyor belt restoration works are being intensified at the SLBC tunnel collapse site at Domalpenta to expedite the operations for tracing the remaining six persons, who were trapped in the tunnel on February 22.
After bodies of two of the trapped workers were recovered, officials are intensifying the conveyor belt restoration works to expedite the operations to trace the remaining six. SLBC Tunnel Special Officer Shiv Shankar Lotheti held a review meeting with senior officials on Monday. He stressed that operations were being carried out even during holidays and wanted officials to expedite the measures. The State government was closely monitoring the situation, he said.

The South Central Railway personnel were clearing the steel obstructions through a loco train and facilitate in expediting the rescue measures, he informed.
Similarly, high capacity pumps were pressed into service to drain out the silt and accumulated water from the tunnel. All steps were being taken to ensure the safety of the personnel involved in the rescue operations, he added.
