Sridhar Babu calls Kakatiya Mega Textile Park a game-changer in India’s textile sector
Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu pitched Telangana’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) as a transformative project to a Taiwanese business delegation, encouraging investment in textiles and related innovation sectors. He also proposed a Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone.
Hyderabad: Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Friday described the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) as a game-changer in the Indian textile sector and urged Taiwanese industrialists to invest in Telangana’s thriving textile ecosystem.
The KMTP, an initiative of the previous BRS government, had its foundation stone laid by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Sridhar Babu’s comments praising the park came when a high-level Taiwanese textile delegation, led by Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) president Justin Huang, met him at the Secretariat.
“KMTP offers integrated world-class infrastructure, from ginning, spinning, weaving and processing to garmenting, all under one roof. Leading companies such as Youngone, Kitex and Ganesha Ecosphere have already invested here,” Sridhar Babu told the delegation.
He highlighted investment opportunities in functional textiles, eco-friendly dyeing, and that textile recycling. The Minister also said technical textiles, Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), sustainable manufacturing, innovation, and R&D were ideal sectors for Taiwanese collaboration.
“If Taiwanese investors come forward, the Telangana government will explore the establishment of a dedicated Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone and exclusive textile clusters,” he said.
Telangana to partner with Estonia in digital governance, health records
In a separate meeting, the Minister announced that Telangana would collaborate with Estonia, globally recognised for its digital governance and healthcare digitisation, to bolster the State’s e-governance and digital public service delivery.
He made the announcement after meeting Estonia’s Ambassador to India, Marje Luup, along with a high-level trade delegation at the Secretariat.
