Subedari police arrests an SI from Sircilla for sexual assault, intimidation against women

A Sub-Inspector from Sircilla district was arrested by Subedari police on charges of sexually harassing and intimidating women he befriended on social media. Police alleged he assaulted a woman, extorted money, destroyed evidence while absconding and was remanded to judicial custody

Hanamkonda: A Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) of Sircilla district was arrested by Subedari police in the district on charges of sexual harassment, forced sexual relations and intimidation of women he befriended on social media.

The accused officer, Kadire Srikanth of the 2014 batch, absconded from duty and went into hiding in Goa, Hyderabad and Nizamabad following a complaint against him. He was traced, taken into custody in Nizamabad and brought to the Subedari police station, where legal proceedings were initiated.

He hails from Konaraopet mandal in Sircilla and is married. During the investigation, it was found that he searched for women’s profiles on social media, sent friend requests, established contact and subsequently harassed them mentally and physically, Subedari CI M Ranjith Kumar said.

In 2025, the accused befriended a woman on Facebook and established an intimate relationship with her. He went to her residence in Warangal and physically assaulted her. He subsequently took her to hotels on several occasions and allegedly subjected her to forced sexual assault.

He later falsely claimed to possess the victim’s nude photos and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter. He also allegedly harassed her through obscene video calls and demanded money. When she asked him to return the money, he allegedly threatened her, claiming that he had the backing of politicians and that no one could harm him.

After the victim lodged a complaint with the Subedari police, the accused, fearing arrest, absconded from duty and went into hiding. It was found that he had destroyed the SIM cards he used to evade the police and communicated solely through Wi-Fi.

A case was registered against him at Jagtial Town police station in the past, involving the alleged sexual exploitation of another woman from Hyderabad on the pretext of marriage. Srikanth was produced before a court in Hanamkonda on Friday and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody.
