Mancherial: The BRS district president, Balka Suman, and six other leaders were booked for alleged unlawful assembly, rioting, causing grievous hurt, and disobedience of an order when Labour Minister Dr G Vivek and Peddapalli MP G Vamshikrishna were on their way to attend a special meeting to elect the chairperson of Kyathanpalli municipality on Tuesday.
Kyathanpalli police, also known as Ramakrishna police, said that based on a complaint received from Devapur SI A Gangaram, a case was registered against Suman, and BRS leaders Raja Ramesh, Mula Raji Reddy, Anil, Gajula Chandrakiran, Medipalli Sampath, Gogula Ravinder Reddy, and some others under sections 189(3) (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), 191(3) (rioting armed with deadly weapons), 121(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and 223(2) (disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Investigations have been initiated.
In his petition, Gangaram alleged that Suman and the BRS leaders picked up an argument with him for stopping them while they were proceeding to Kyathanpalli municipality without prior permission. Suman and the leaders then raised slogans before resorting to pelting stones at the police and Congress activists, resulting in head injuries to constable Rakesh from Chennur and injuries to Kotapalli Sub-Inspector S Rajashekhar.
The SI further accused Suman of terrorising and obstructing the police from discharging their duties.
Meanwhile, large contingents of police were deployed at a flyover close to Suman’s residence in Kyathanpalli. It was reported that the police might take Suman into custody at midnight. Hundreds of BRS activists gathered at Suman’s residence to prevent his arrest.
