Taaza Kitchen and Amogha Hotel at Ameerpet reported for food safety violations
At Amogha Hotel and Café, inspection teams discovered a severe rat infestation in the storage area. Additionally, they found that the hotel's toilet opened directly into the kitchen, posing a risk of contamination. The inspection also revealed the absence of pest control records, employee health records, water safety analysis reports, and the FOSTAC (Food Safety and Training Certificate) of the supervisors.
Hyderabad: The food inspectors of the Commissioner of Food Safety conducted inspections at food establishments Amogha Hotel and Café and Taaza Kitchen, both located in Ameerpet, and have detected multiple food safety violations.
At Amogha Hotel and Café, the inspecting teams reported extensive rat infestation in the hotel’s storage area and the hotel’s toilet was found to be opening directly into the kitchen which may cause contaminations. The inspecting also reported non-availability of pest control records, employee health records, water safety analysis reports and fostac (food safety and training certificate) of the supervisors.
The teams detected that refrigerators were not maintained properly and were littered with food waste, flooring was found to be patchy with littering of food waste and stagnant water at several places and the grinding and washing area in the hotel were found to be unhygienic with clogged drains.
The food articles in the refrigerator were found to be uncovered and unlabelled and inspecting teams discarded the synthetic food colors, on suspicion of use in prepared food articles. The storage was found to be congested with food articles dumped on the ground. The teams also detected that food and non-food articles are stored together.
At Taaza Kitchen, the inspecting teams said that the food articles in the refrigerator were uncovered and unlabelled and there were no water analysis reports and Fostac certificates of the supervisor. The rice flour was infested with insects and the inspecting teams discarded it.
The semi-prepared and raw materials, food and non-food items were stored together and few vegetables (tomatoes) were found to be spoiled. The inspection teams found that the kitchen knives were rusty and being used to cut the vegetables.
The storage was small and congested, Several food articles were found to be stored in ground instead of pallets. The temperature records for the cold room were not maintained and some of the food handlers were found without hairnets and gloves.
