AIMC has written a letter to the District Magistrate (DM) of Varanasi seeking to stop the Archaeological Survey of India's survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex

The letter is addressed to the president, manager and the joint secretary of the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, which looks after the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi.

Mumtaz Ahmad said the ASI survey was being done on court orders and no ASI official had given any statement regarding the survey proceedings. 

The survey of the mosque complex began on August 4 following court orders.

As the fourth survey ended on Monday, Shubhash Nandan Chaturvedi, an Advocate for the Hindu side, said that the court-ordered survey is proceeding smoothly.
