After staying away for three years due to monkey attacks and habitat loss, migratory birds have returned to Chintapalli village in Khammam district. Officials now plan to declare Dubalamma Tank a notified wetland to protect the birds and their habitat.
A man in Chintapalli village, Jannaram mandal, was booked for allegedly storing teak timber illegally at his residence. Forest officials seized timber worth over Rs. 24,000, which has been shifted to the Jannaram FRO office for further inquiry and legal proceedings.
The veterinary assistant surgeon, Dr. Paul Joseph Goutham, demanded Rs. 6,000 from a farmer to issue a health and valuation certificate for his buffaloes.
“The arrival of migratory birds means a lot to the village as we believe it is a good omen for a better crop season for us," informed a farmer Nagaiah.
