A domestic LPG cylinder was stolen from the balcony of a house in Paloncha town, Kothagudem district, amid the ongoing West Asia crisis that has disrupted gas supplies across India. The theft, which left other household items untouched, has raised concerns about rising cylinder-related crimes.

Oil marketing companies in Andhra Pradesh have reassured the public that LPG, petrol, and diesel supplies remain stable despite initial panic triggered by the West Asia conflict. HPCL’s N Bhaskara Reddy stated that LPG inventories are consistently maintained for three days, while petrol and diesel stocks cover 15 days.

The Telangana civil supplies department has seized 3,699 illegal domestic LPG cylinders and 70 small cylinders between March 12 and April 3, valued at Rs 1.10 crore. A total of 1,275 cases and 216 FIRs were registered under Section 6A of the Essential Commodities Act.

Cooking gas shortages in Hyderabad hostels have forced the suspension of staple breakfast items and beverages. Hostels are switching to rice, upma, and poha, with some using induction stoves or firewood. Authorities are urged to prioritise gas supply.
