The Telangana Drug Control Administration found violations in 193 medical shops during inspections aimed at curbing antibiotic misuse and raising awareness on Antimicrobial Resistance. Show cause notices were issued for selling antibiotics without prescriptions and not maintaining regulatory records.
The said insulin injections were being sold at substantial discounts of more than 40 percent by the wholesalers and are suspected to be either illegally diverted from the supply chain (or) spurious drugs, thereby raising concerns about their authenticity.
