Though good rainfall was forecast by the IMD from July to September this year in the State, the dry spell that lasted for more than a couple of weeks had its bearing on all rain-fed crops.
However, the upcoming week is likely to see rains taking a backseat, with no significant precipitation expected. On Monday, temperatures soared, indicating the onset of the intense heat.
Nirmal district saw an average rainfall of 84.1 mm. Mudhole mandal received the highest rainfall of 122.2 mm, followed by Kaddampeddur mandal which had 113 mm of rainfall.
