Karnataka authorities uncovered a major prison fraud after a life convict allegedly secured release from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in 2018 using forged Supreme Court documents. Police registered an FIR and launched investigations into possible collusion, negligence and the convict’s whereabouts.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said Konduri Gangadhar, a Class IV employee at the Zilla Parishad office, and Devalla Govardhan, a senior assistant at the town employment office, were taken into custody for cheating Thakur Swarupa Rani.
Inspector of Police Balakrishna said the four accused- Banoth Bharath, Nunawat Ravi, advocate Shaik Latif and a stamp manufacturer Potlapalli Suresh - had allegedly forged documents
On pretext of providing land at cheaper rates for construction of temples the suspect U Narsimhlu cheated NVV Subrahmanyam by providing forged documents.
Officials identified the two as Sachin Mani Tripathi, a resident of Deoria, and Shivanand Verma of Lucknow. They were arrested near Lekhraj market in the UP state capital.
The arrested persons are D Rama Veera Venkata Vara Prasad (72), P Partha Sarathi (54), P Thrinadh (55) and P Vijaya Bhargavan (24), all natives of Andhra Pradesh.
