Jubilee Hills police arrested three members of an interstate gang for cheating a jewellery shop by swapping genuine gold with fake ornaments. The accused escaped with jewellery and cash worth Rs 10 lakh before being tracked through CCTV footage.
Suryapet police cracked a major jewellery heist at Sai Santoshi Jewellery, arresting three suspects, including a woman from Khammam and two gang members from West Bengal and Nepal. A significant portion of the stolen valuables was recovered from the accused.
The two were found to be allegedly involved in a Rs 20-crore burglary at a jewellery store in New Delhi and around 18.5 kg of gold and diamond ornaments were recovered from them, he said.
The award, presented to Mandadi Jyothi Reddy on the occasion of International Women’s Day, is in recognition of her exemplary work as a jeweller, for 19 years now
According to the police, thieves opened the shutter of Mathaji Jewellers and Pawnbrokers using hand tools and gained entry into the store before escaping with ornaments post-midnight
At the billing counter, after promising to pay the money through e-wallet on the shop owner’s number, they diverted his attention and fled the spot with the ornament,” police said.
