Raises concerns that Congress government's move to divert water from Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme will affect erstwhile Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts
The state government has responded by releasing Rs 60 crore to address immediate needs and maintain the PRLIS, where work has been stalled since December last.
The previous BRS government used to release water to Kudavelly Vagu, and all the canals under Mallanna Sagar, Kondapochamma Sagar, Ranganayaka Sagar and other projects under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, says Kotha Prabhakar Reddy.
Koutala Sub-Inspector N Madhukar said that unknown persons burnt the electric motor, transformer and starter belonging to a minor lift irrigation scheme built at the river as they could not copper wire from the motor and transformer.
Proposing Rs.28,024 crore for irrigation in the budget, the Finance Minister said the State government was aiming at completing the Dr BR Ambedkar Pranahita Chevella project to irrigate the upper regions of Telangana.
