Telangana Farmers’ Commission Chairman M Kodanda Reddy triggered controversy after stating that farmers required only three hours of electricity supply for agricultural operations. Opposition parties and farmers’ organisations criticised the remarks, alleging they signalled attempts to weaken the 24-hour free power scheme.
Meetings would be held soon with representatives of farmers' organisations before the two key programmes sponsored by the State government get underway.
The committee aims to gather insights and opinions from the district collectors based on public grievances during the video conference, starting at 10:30 am on Saturday.
“Many farmers are still running around Tahsildar offices. Congress brought these issues to the notice of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao but they are yet to be addressed,” Kodanda Reddy said
