Sircilla police arrested Dubba Madhu, a member of an extortion gang operating in the name of the banned extremist group Janashakthi. Four members had already been arrested earlier this month.
The BRS working president KT Rama Rao has termed the recent Panchayat election results in Telangana as the beginning of Congress’ political decline. Highlighting the party’s strong performance in Sircilla, where BRS-backed candidates won a majority of gram panchayats, he accused the ruling Congress of failing to deliver on promises and misusing power.
The final phase of Gram Panchayat elections in the erstwhile Karimnagar district will be held on Wednesday, with polling scheduled from 7 am to 1 pm. Authorities have deployed additional police forces, imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS, and arranged webcasting and CCTV monitoring at sensitive stations.
