The Sharad Pawar-led faction of the NCP is a constituent of the state opposition grouping Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) which also includes the Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT).

Making his stand clear on joining Bharatiya Janata Party, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that his party will not go with the BJP as its ideology does not fit in NCP's political framework.

A party source said that during the meeting of floor leaders of the INDIA bloc on Friday, some of the members raised concerns about Pawar being the chief guest of the function in which Modi is honoured with the Lokmanya Tilak Award.
