A 45-year-old farmer from Medak district committed suicide after failing to sell his paddy despite waiting for 20 days at a procurement centre.

Civil Supplies Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra inspected the Pedakaparthi procurement centre in Nalgonda, directing officials to expedite paddy unloading and transport.

Rahul Raj saw the farmers cleaning the paddy on a cleaner at the procurement centre. He then picked up a basket and filled it with the paddy with a shovel. While the farmers were watching, the Collector carried the basket to the cleaner and poured the grains on it to examine how it works.

A report was submitted to a committee recommending Narayana’s suspension. The committee would inquire into the issue and make a decision, he said.
