The yatra kicked off at 6.30 am from Makthal with State Congress president A. Revanth Reddy, MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and a number of party leaders joining Gandhi.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the state via Gudebellur on October 23 morning, after exiting Karnataka from Raichur. After a brief march it took a break for three days from Sunday noon till October 26.

On the fourth and final day of the Yatra in the state, Rahul Gandhi along with party leaders and scores of party workers resumed the Yatra Friday morning from Mantralayam in Kurnool district.

Meanwhile, party sources confirmed that another scion of the Gandhi family, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is most likely to take part in the padayatra on Saturday.

He resumed the Yatra from Banavasi village in Yemmiganur mandal in the morning. Accompanied by leaders and workers of the party, he walked till Mugati village.

Being a Dalit will help Kharge strike a chord with the underdogs, who were once traditional voters of the Congress but who, of late, have switched to the BJP.

Conscious of the huge odds in Andhra Pradesh where it does not have a single MP or MLA, the party has planned the Yatra in such a manner that it will cover less than 100 km.

Rahul Gandhi has been leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra since September 7 aiming to cover the distance of 3,500 km from Kanniyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra is in its Karnataka leg and is on its 35th day here.

While interacting with the family, Rahul Gandhi expressed his concern over the injustice and comforted them for having gone through a traumatic experience of "untouchability".

The march started at 6:45 am, informed the veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.

This will be his third press interaction during the march and has been scheduled for 1 pm today.

The party workers and leaders were looking forward to the top leader's participation, seeing it as a morale booster for the workers which will improve the party's prospects in the state.
