Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh inspected rain-hit colonies in Hanamkonda on Thursday, reviewing flood relief work with officials. About 45 colonies across Warangal and Hanamkonda were inundated, with 1,200 people shifted to relief centres by civic and police teams.
Temple priests performed pooja programmes at Balalyam as usual. Devotees, however, are not permitted to have darshans at the temple due to the lockdown.
The prime minister urged that every penny of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) funds be spent on rain water conservation till the monsoon arrives.
In a few pockets the water levels rose high and several vehicles were washed away along with gushing waters. Fortunately, so far there were no complaints of people missing or building collapses reported.
