Owing to the heavy rains last month, a total of 6,62,689 hectares of agricultural crops besides 18,645 hectares of horticultural crops were damaged, the chief minister said.
For floods and landslides during the southwest monsoon, Rs 577.84 crore has been approved for Karnataka, Rs 611.61 crore for Madhya Pradesh, and Rs 87.84 crore for Sikkim.
In a statement, the Chief Minister observed that people residing in inundated areas have suffered severe losses after rain water entered into their homes and damaged their essential commodities.
All the stagnant water on the roads is being cleared and a special drive has been taken up to clear the construction and demolition debris and other trash that got washed into the nalas and onto the streets.
The Chief Minister, in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the State had suffered losses to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore in the heavy rains and subsequent flash floods across the State.
