A new camp of the security forces was opened on Tuesday at Tekulagudem village under the limits of Jagargund police station in Sukma district to curb the naxal activities.
The encounter broke out this morning in the forest of village Chhotekedwal, located in a Maoist stronghold on the border of Chintagufa and Kistaram police station limits, when security personnel were out on an anti-Naxalite operation, a police official said.
The security personnel were ambushed by naxals when they were out on a combing operation in a forest along the border of the Bijapur and Sukma districts of the state.
Twenty two security personnel were killed and 31 others injured in the gunfight with Naxals between Jonaguda and Tekalguda villages along the border of Sukma and Bijapur districts on Saturday.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said: "We will never forget the cowardly attack on our Parliament on this day in 2001. We recall the valour and sacrifices of those who lost their lives while protecting our Parliament.
The attack occurred on the outskirts of Ghazni, capital of the eastern province of Ghazni, which has seen regular fighting between the Taliban and government forces.
