Around 20 students fell ill after consuming allegedly contaminated food at a government-run Scheduled Caste hostel in Bellampalli on Friday night. Two students are critical. Parents and leaders blamed negligence and demanded strict action, citing similar past incidents in the State.
Law students at Osmania University staged a protest on Tuesday, squatting on the main road with rice bowls to highlight alleged stale food served in the hostel mess. The protesters raised slogans against the vice-chancellor and chief warden, demanding immediate resolution of the long-pending issue.
After the incident on Tuesday night, the Buldhana MLA said the food served to him was of poor quality and he will raise the issue during the ongoing monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature
