The University of Hyderabad has dissolved its Students’ Union for 2024–25 to comply with Lyngdoh Committee guidelines, which mandate annual elections within a specific timeframe. With the academic session for 2025–26 having begun on July 16, the university has scheduled the election process between September 11 and 20.
The University of Hyderabad Students Union, backed by other student groups, staged a protest against the university’s decision to dissolve the union before completion of its term. Students alleged bias in favour of ABVP and demanded implementation of Lyngdoh Committee recommendations
As per students union, inordinate delay in releasing scholarships is causing immense hardships to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those from BC, SC and ST categories
