Bus driver B Venkanna was felicitated by TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar for acting swiftly and saving the life of a passenger who suffered an epileptic bout while travelling on the bus on Monday.

Officials said they would operate 39 buses on the Karimnagar-JBS route, nine on Karimnagar-Godavarikhani route, four on Karimnagar-Manthani route, six on the Karimnagar-Kamareddy route, six in Karimnagar-Jagtial and six in Karimnagar-Sircilla routes.

Besides different parts of the State, Rakhis will be transported to neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and others.

TGSRTC officials said these buses will start from MGBS, JBS, BHEL and other places from the city, with an average frequency of half-an-hour between buses.

In a tragic incident, Hajira Begum (40), a resident of Chandrayangutta in old city, and her two sons Abdul Rahim (11) were killed in a head on collision between their scooter and a TSRTC bus at Nandigama in Shadnagar on Sunday afternoon. While younger son Abdul Rahman (9) escaped with injuries.

RTC is planning to introduce a Semi-Deluxe category buses between these two categories. The ticket price will be 5 to 6 per cent higher than Express buses and 4 per cent lower than the Deluxe bus.
