Musk met his advisors, including former PayPal executive David Sacks, to finalise a plan to fire about 3,800 workers, the Verge quoted its deputy editor Alex Heath as saying in the report.

The micro-blogging platform said that it made the decision "to discontinue Ad-free Articles, effective as of close of business, on October 31, 2022".

Jean-Philippe Maheu, vice president of global client solutions; chief consumer officer Sarah Personette; and Dalana Brand, chief of people and diversity, are also leaving the micro-blogging platform.

"Twitter's current lords and peasants system for who has or doesn't have a blue checkmark is b******t," he said in a tweet.
